When you think of CBD you may think of relaxation or something helpful to support reducing your stress levels. It also is known to be great to sleep. Because of this, the question may come to your mind, does CBD oil make you feel tired? In this post, we will explore the difference between CBD and THC and if CBD actually does make you feel sleepy.

If you are looking to understand more about CBD oil and how it interacts with your body keep reading for more information.

CBD vs THC

Although CBD and marijuana have a close association they are not the same. If you have ever tried marijuana you may have experienced a feeling of relaxation which came along with feeling sleepy or maybe you even brain fog. Whereas marijuana can have this effect, CBD is completely different.

THC is one of the active components of the marijuana plant is has psychoactive properties which can cause the feeling of being ”high”. CBD is different. It is non-psychoactive and has many benefits. It can help promote relaxation thus helping with sleep and insomnia but it will not make you feel drowsy during the day.

Does CBD oil make me tired?

You may be wondering how does CBD oil work and how does it interact with your body. CBD works by interacting with the body’s endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system is a molecular system that helps regulate and balance many processes in the body like the immune response, appetite and metabolism, communication between cells, and many more processes.

If you take CBD oil one of the most effective ways is to use it sublingually. You can do this by placing a few drops of CBD oil under your tongue. Allow it to be there for up to two minutes so it has time to dissolve. This process lets it penetrate the mucous membranes and go into the bloodstream through the tissues under your tongue. Through this method, the absorption rate is between 13 and 19 percent. It also has a rapid onset action this way.

When’s the best time to take CBD?

In general, there’s no specific answer when it comes to when to take CBD. Everyone is different and feels different during each part of the day. Some people like to take CBD in the morning, even before breakfast, while other people enjoy taking CBD right before bed as a way to wind down after a long day. It’s important to pay attention to your body and see when you feel best taking it.

How does CBD oil make you feel?

If you are still wondering if CBD will make you feel sleepy, the simple answer is no. CBD helps promote a feeling of calmness and relaxation both in the body and the mind. However, this is not by inducing a sleepy state or creating the mind clouding and sometimes sleep effects of THC.

One way to look at the way CBD works is like an adaptogen. Adaptogens are herbal pharmaceuticals that work to counterbalance the effects of stress in the body. As Leslie Korn, Ph.D. states, “Stress sets off a cascade of physical responses that affect immune function, our hormones, our cognitive function, and our internal clock, called our circadian rhythm”.

Although CBD is not considered an adaptogenic plant officially, it has many characteristics which make it act like one. CBD helps to balance the function of the body by having an effect on the endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system helps regulate the body and make sure it is working in harmony. It is both soothing and relaxing.

With CBD you can experience the best of both worlds and feel relaxed while continuing to focus and be productive.
