Not All CBD Capsules Are Created Equal

A capsule is only as good as what someone put inside it, and a great many capsules on the market are filled with bought-in isolate powder that never saw a hemp field. Ours are filled with the same CO2 extract that goes into our oils, from hemp grown on our own land without pesticides or herbicides. The extract is made first and the capsule is built around it, which is the opposite order to how most of this category is produced.

Filling capsules consistently is harder than it sounds. An oil in a bottle can vary a little between drops and nobody notices, but a capsule is a fixed promise, so the fill has to hit the same number every time. Ours are produced under GMP conditions with the fill weight checked through the run, and each batch is sent to an independent laboratory before release. The 10mg capsules come in a 30 count and a 120 count, and the 120 exists because people who settle into a routine get tired of reordering.

Capsules suit people who want CBD to be a decision they make once rather than every morning. There is no dropper, no taste and no maths, which matters more than it sounds if you take it at work or while travelling. The trade-off is control. You cannot take half a capsule, so if you are still working out what suits you, an oil is the better place to begin.

What Are CBD Capsules

CBD capsules are hemp extract sealed inside a softgel shell in a fixed amount. Swallow one and it passes through the digestive system, where the extract is absorbed and processed by the liver before it reaches general circulation. The active content is identical to an oil. The only thing that changes is the delivery, and with it the convenience.

Ours are filled with CO2 extract from our own hemp, blended into hemp seed oil inside the shell rather than dried into a powder. Raw capsules skip the decarboxylation step, so the extract still holds CBDa alongside CBD. Heat-activated capsules have been through it, so the CBDa has converted. We also make a 20mg softgel filled with raw hemp oil where CBDa is the compound stated on the label rather than a secondary note.

The practical difference between a capsule and an oil is timing and precision. Anything swallowed has to be digested first, so a capsule takes longer to do whatever it is going to do than drops held under the tongue. CBD suppositories avoid much of that digestive route. In exchange you get an exact, repeatable amount with no dropper, no aftertaste and nothing to work out. Neither is better. They suit different people, and plenty of people use both.

What Can CBD Capsules Be Used For?

Capsules tend to be chosen for the routine rather than the moment. They are what people pick when CBD has become a fixed part of the day and they would rather not think about it.

The range runs from 10mg to 200mg in a single capsule, which is a wide spread, and the right end of it depends entirely on where you already are.

  • Everyday Routine: 10MG CBD Capsules give you a fixed amount with nothing to measure, and the 120 count lasts four months at one a day.
  • Raw Hemp and CBDa: The RAW capsules keep CBDa in the extract. Our guide to the different types of CBD explains why that matters to some people and not to others.
  • Work and Travel: There is no dropper, no bottle and no smell, which is the main reason people move from oil to capsules. Nothing to explain at airport security either.
  • A Higher Content in One Capsule: The 200MG RAW capsules put a high amount into a single softgel for people who already know their routine and are tired of counting, and the high-strength CBD collection has the stronger oils and concentrates.
  • Learn More About CBD: Read what CBD capsules do and our comparison of CBD oil and capsules before you switch format.

If you have not tried CBD before, we would suggest starting with an oil so you can find your own level first, then moving to capsules once you know it.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What are CBD capsules?

They are hemp extract sealed in a softgel shell at a fixed amount per capsule. Endoca fills them with the same CO2 extract that goes into our CBD hemp oils, from organically grown hemp. The range covers 10mg, 50mg and 200mg per capsule, in raw and heat-activated versions.

Are CBD capsules the same as CBD pills or tablets?

In everyday use people say pills, tablets, softgels and capsules interchangeably. Technically a tablet is compressed powder and a softgel holds a liquid fill. Everything in this collection is a softgel with an oil-based fill, which is why we call them capsules rather than tablets.

How long do CBD capsules take to work?

Anything swallowed has to be digested before it is absorbed, so a capsule works on the timeline of your digestive system rather than instantly. That varies with what you have eaten and when. People who want something faster usually hold oil under the tongue instead.

Can I take a capsule with food?

Yes, and many people prefer to. Cannabinoids are fat-soluble, so taking a capsule alongside a meal containing some fat is a common habit. There is nothing to avoid, and the capsule itself already contains hemp seed oil.

What is the difference between 10mg, 50mg and 200mg capsules?

Only the amount of extract inside. The hemp, the extraction and the testing are identical across all three. The number on the label is what one capsule contains, so a 50mg capsule holds five times what a 10mg capsule holds.

What is first-pass metabolism and why does it matter for capsules?

Anything absorbed through the gut travels to the liver before it reaches the rest of the body, and the liver processes part of it on the way through. That is first-pass metabolism. It is the reason a swallowed capsule behaves differently from oil held under the tongue, which partly bypasses that route.

Why is the extract suspended in oil rather than dried into powder?

Cannabinoids are fat-soluble, so they sit naturally in an oil and awkwardly in a dry powder. Keeping the fill as an oil also means the terpenes and minor cannabinoids stay where they were after extraction instead of being lost in a drying step.

What does CO2 extraction do that other methods do not?

Supercritical CO2 pulls cannabinoids and terpenes out of the plant using pressure and temperature rather than a chemical solvent, so there is no residue to strip out afterwards. Our guide to how CBD extraction works compares it against ethanol and olive oil.

Are the capsules tested for anything besides CBD content?

Yes. The independent laboratory reports cover the full cannabinoid profile alongside contaminant screening. Hemp draws heavy metals out of soil, so testing the finished product rather than only the raw crop is the part that actually protects you.

Do Endoca capsules contain THC?

They contain the trace amount naturally present in a full spectrum hemp extract, stated as less than 0.2%. That is not enough to be intoxicating. It is also why they are full spectrum rather than broad spectrum, since removing it entirely means removing other compounds with it.

Could a CBD capsule show on a drug test?

A drug test looks for THC metabolites, not CBD. Full spectrum products contain trace THC, so a positive result cannot be ruled out, particularly with frequent use of higher strengths. If you are tested at work, our article on CBD and drug tests is worth reading first, and the THC-free CBD collection is where to look instead.

Is hemp extract in a capsule legal in the EU?

Hemp-derived products within national THC limits are sold across the EU, but CBD sits on the Novel Food Catalogue and a few member states apply their own restrictions. Rules differ by country, so check yours. We ship worldwide and cannot advise on individual national law.

What is the difference between hemp seed oil and hemp extract?

Hemp seed oil is pressed from the seed and contains essentially no cannabinoids. Hemp extract comes from the flower and leaf and is where the CBD is. Our capsules contain both, the extract for the cannabinoids and the seed oil as the carrier.

Which capsule count should I order?

The 10mg capsules come in 30 and 120. The 30 is the sensible way to try the format. If you already take CBD daily and know your amount, the 120 works out cheaper per capsule and saves you reordering every month.

Can I subscribe to capsules?

Yes. Set the interval that matches your count and it arrives on schedule with a subscriber saving applied. Change or cancel it yourself at any point, no email required.

Do capsules need to be stored differently from oil?

Keep them somewhere cool, dry and out of direct sunlight, the same as the oils. The shell protects the fill from light better than a bottle does, which makes capsules the easier format to travel with.

How discreet is the packaging?

The outer packaging carries no branding and no product description. That is standard on every order we send, and it is the reason a lot of customers order to a workplace address without thinking twice about it.
