Being a parent is one of the biggest challenges someone can face in their lifetime. It is a uniquely personal experience and the choices you make directly affect the health and wellbeing of your child in the future.
Increasingly, many parents are choosing a natural approach to parenting; choosing organic, eliminating chemicals, and sourcing natural, plant derived medicines. Lifestyle choices that we at Endoca support as they sit firmly with our values.
4-year-old boy forcibly removed from parents
That’s why we were shocked to read about the case of Chase Walker-Stevens, the four year old Australian boy who has been taken from his parents, and is currently in the custody of the state.
Chase has cerebral palsy and pretty much since his infancy has been the subject of a battle between his parents’ natural health choices and the ‘conventional’ preferences of doctors at his local hospital.

Parents believe Chase was vaccine damaged
The tensions started soon after Chase was born, when after receiving a Vitamin K injection and a hepatitis B vaccine, he started having seizures and his general health worsened. He went on to have several more vaccinations, and was put on a special kind of formula called Nutrini which was fed into his peg. While fed this formula containing no fresh ingredients, Chase’s weight shot up dramatically putting him in the morbidly obese category.
Chase’s health improves with organic diet and cannabis oil
Shocked by what they saw, his parents Cini and Marc, decided go against the hospital’s treatment plan and change to an organic, plant based diet. They also decided to take Chase off the medication prescribed for his epilepsy which was failing to keep his seizures in check, opting for medicinal cannabis oil.
Their decision proved well judged, as Chase’s health began to improve. According to an article in The Australian National Review, within a matter of days his seizures reduced and “he also started smiling, laughing, attempting to talk, holding his head up, following his mother’s gaze and trying to grasp objects, something his parents observed he had not done since his last lot of vaccines at 20 months of age.”
Hospital determined to remove Chase from his parents
Why, then if there were such notable improvements in Chase’s health, do his parents find themselves in the heartbreaking situation of having had their child removed from their care?
It would seem that Lady Cilento Hospital in Brisbane and the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services were determined to prove that Chase’s parents were negligent, claiming that the child’s potassium levels were dangerously low.
This despite a series of official proclamations that Chase was being adequately cared for. In two previous court hearings the presiding judges had found in the parents' favour, and on the night Chase was removed from his parents, a doctor had declared he was not in any imminent danger and that he should be discharged into their care.
Heavy handed tactics used by police
And yet, police and social services decided to forcibly remove Chase from his parents, locking his father in a toilet and arresting his mother, who was injured in the entailing scuffle. The family’s supporters waiting outside the hospital were also sprayed with pepper spray by the police.
Mother Cini was later released without charge, but neither parent has been told where their 4 year old son has been taken.
According to reports, a court hearing has been scheduled for 25th of May, 6 days after Chase was forcibly removed.
A Change.org petition has been launched directed at Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. Entitled ‘Bring Chase Walker-Stevens Home To His Family’ it states: “This baby boy was underhandedly taken from a loving home where he was thriving to be placed alone with strangers and no way to communicate. He needs our help to be reunited with his parents Cini and Marc and his 2 sisters.”
We are shocked and saddened by Chase’s story. How can health and social care professionals be so misguided about the wellbeing of a child, and be prepared to cause such heartbreak and suffering not only to Chase, but to his whole family?
As parents and non-parents, it’s time to stand strong. It is our right to reject putting chemicals into our bodies, and those of our children. Please support the Walker-Stevens family by signing their petition and sharing this story.
