It’s a rare occasion that the grandparents of a child helped by CBD oil get to visit the hemp fields where it was grown. But this is just what happened recently when Barry and Joy Lambert came to meet Endoca CEO Henry Vincenty in Denmark.
What’s all the more extraordinary is that the Lamberts had travelled all the way from Australia, so it’s fair to say that it’s an issue very close to their hearts.
That’s because until their 4-year-old granddaughter Katelyn started taking Endoca 20% CBD Extract Raw Hemp oil two years ago, her future looked extremely bleak. She has the rare genetic disorder Dravet Syndrome which causes blackouts and uncontrollable seizures, resulting in learning difficulties and often premature death.
At their worst, Katelyn’s seizures were happening 1400 times a day and despite the best efforts by her doctors, her heavy medication was not lessening the attacks. Out of desperation, her father Michael looked for alternative treatments and came across the Charlotte Figi story, – a fellow Dravet suffer, whose condition had been vastly improved thanks to high strength CBD oil.
After researching online for high quality, pure CBD oil he tentatively ordered his first batch of Endoca CBD extract. Much to the family’s relief, the change in Katelyn was immediate.
‘She has not had a seizure in a year’ says Joy, ‘and that is miraculous for Dravet Syndrome. It is untreatable by normal medicines’.
By giving CBD oil to Katelyn the family were breaking Australian law. ‘So who do you love more than your children – your grandchildren’, says Joy. ‘So at 67 i decided i could be civilly disobedient and just do what was right for the children with epilepsy. That’s how I see it’.
Barry Lambert 60 Minutes Australia Documentary
But while the Lamberts may look like average grandparents, Barry 70, just happens to be a multi-millionaire after a successful career in finance. So moved was he and the family by Katelyn’s improved health that they decided to donate $34 million to Sydney University for research into medical cannabis founding the Lambert Initiative for Cannabinoid Therapeutics.
Just recently Barry and Joy Lambert have been filmed for an upcoming 60 Minutes documentary where they were interviewed about their donation and their son Michael’s upcoming court case.
But today they were just plain Barry and Joy, here to thank Endoca for the CBD oil that has changed their granddaughter’s life.
‘I think the cannabis plant will be proven to be the wonder plant of this century’ says Barry. ‘I know it’s been around for previous centuries, but I think scientists will discover what a wonderful plant it is and it will be a great benefit to mankind’.
