Hemp products list – a real eye opener!
You will be absolutely amazed at some of the items that can be found on a hemp products list. Possibly the most versatile plant on earth, hemp now has more uses than ever before.
Hemp, a member of the cannabis family, has proven medicinal value and has been used to make rope and textiles for centuries. It is used in foods, bio-fuels, textiles and the production of military grade fabrics. Hemp is used in cleaning agents, medicines, bio-plastics and even in the construction of earthquake resistant houses.
A selection of our products
Hemp seed yields extremely high levels of protein and essential fatty acids. Foods made from hemp contain vitamins A, C and E. They are both nutritious as well as delicious. Hemp yields more protein than almost any other plant, including soya. Hemp also contains higher levels of omega 3 oils than both fish and flax seeds.
Many people may think that hemp foods are limited to the odd granola bar. This is certainly not the case. Hemp can be used to make dairy-free ice-creams, chocolates, beers and even hemp milk. Hemp milk is extremely popular among vegans and those suffering from lactose intolerance of dairy products. Hemp is also used to make butter and tofu.
When it comes to a hemp products list, the sheer number and variety of hemp foods is in itself quite remarkable. Several popular brands are available throughout the USA and no special licence or import permits are required.
Hemp and Hygiene
Hemp-based personal hygiene products are fast becoming the rage across the globe. Not only are these products particularly effective, they are also a lot less harmful to the environment than traditional chemical based agents.
No hemp products list would be complete without a mention of some of the amazing personal hygiene options that are available. The Body Shop offers a superb hemp body butter. Hemp shampoos, shaving creams, moisturizers, bath oils, sunscreens and lip balms are all readily available.
As far as cleaning agents go, hemp is being used to make dish-washing liquids and industrial strength carpet cleaners. As with hemp foods, these products are available in the USA.
Skateboards, bicycles and cars
In order to promote environmental awareness and protect the earth’s dwindling forests, skateboard manufacturer Habitat have switched from using traditional Canadian maple to making their decks using hemp. Several professional skateboarders have lauded the option, claiming the new hemp decks are stronger and more flexible.
Numerous bicycle manufacturers, including Erba Cycles and Evolve Bicycles, are making bike frames made from bamboo held together with hemp fibres. These bicycles, which come in various styles, are ultra-lightweight and, surprisingly, are also stronger than their steel counterparts.
Back in the 1940’s, Henry Ford was the first man to pioneer a vehicle made almost entirely out of hemp. The car’s hemp- composite panels were stronger than steel and the vehicle was designed to run on bio-fuel made from hemp oil.
Canadian auto manufacturer Motive Industries followed in Ford’s footsteps. In 2010 the company unveiled their prototype for the Kestrel EV. This three door hatchback has a body made from a hemp-based bio-composite material. The car is lighter and more fuel efficient than its nearest competitors.
Earthquake resistant houses
Adding to our rapidly growing hemp products list is a material known as Hempcrete. Developed in the Netherlands, houses made of Hempcrete are resistant to mold. This makes them perfect for people who suffer from allergies, as Hempcrete is environmentally friendly and contains no toxic agents. Hempcrete homes are also resistant to fire and termites. They are ideal for areas which are prone to earthquakes and are cheaper to build than houses made from brick and mortar.
An added benefit of Hempcrete is that the material has phenomenal insulation properties. This means home-owners can save a fortune on energy costs. In this way, Hempcrete is proving to be even more environmentally friendly. In fact, Hempcrete absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, giving it fantastic potential to be used in the construction of highways and side-walks.
Hemp has been used to treat a number of ailments for thousands of years. Although there is much controversy, the modern medical fraternity has hailed hemp oil as the wonder drug of the 21st century.
When it comes to fashionable clothing and accessories, hemp is hip. If you want to boost your street cred, whether you are a lawyer in a three piece suit or a teen who lives in jeans and sneakers, then hemp clothing is the way to go.
Business suits made from hemp are smart and comfortable. Hemp jeans are durable and tough. Hemp lingerie is soft and silky. Brands such as Adidas and Calvin Klein have a wide range of hemp items, ranging from underwear to running shoes.
Although we have come to the end of this post, our hemp products list is by no means complete. There are so many applications for such a versatile product that it would require far more than what time and space allow. We hope you have enjoyed reading.
