Hemp Oil: What’s the buzz all about?
There are several different recognised types of Hemp Oil, each one of which is manufactured by a different process and has different properties and applications. This article has been written to give an overview of these and to dispel any misimpressions that may be created by the large amount of references that one may find on the topic.

Hemp seed Oil is NOT necessarily a Health Supplement!
Hempseed Oil is extracted exclusively from the seed of the hemp plant (NOT marijuana!) by cold pressing. Often incorrectly referred to as CBD Hemp Oil, this product contains none of the active ingredients looked for by those who are in need of medically active pharmaceutical grade Hemp Oil. It is used for culinary purposes because of its exceptionally high nutritional value and generally excellent flavour. Not recommended for cooking purposes because of its relatively low smoke point temperature, Hempseed Oil is great for salad dressings!
It also has an impressive variety of uses as an industrial resource – from biodiesel to the production of paint, inks, lubricants and even plastics. It is vitally important not to use industrially derived “Hemp Oil” for any form of ingestion because of the possibility of toxic contaminants that may be present.
Juiced Hemp is also not Hemp Oil . . .
There are many advocates of drinking juiced fresh cannabis plant material. While this may have health benefits, it is most definitely not Hemp Oil either. There will be an amount of Hemp Oil in the juice because the oil comes from the plant – but it is present in small quantities, and because the juice is consumed raw, the beneficial ingredients are not decarboxylated (a heating process that turns inactive phytocannabinoids into their physiologically active forms, which are almost identical to those known as endocannabinoids which are produced within the human body.)
Hemp Oil – the “real deal”.
There are many sources of inaccurate information on the internet, and these can cause serious confusion.
Genuine Hemp Oil is obtained from the hemp plant itself, generally by extraction processes that use various solvents. These solvents themselves can be poisonous, or contain nasty contaminants that end up being concentrated in the final product – which is a very good reason not to ingest any of these products at all.
The good news is that there is a completely safe alternative to this method! Known as supercritical CO2 extraction, this method uses pure food-grade carbon dioxide at high pressure and low temperature to extract all of the vital ingredients that are needed for the protection of your health and maintenance of your well-being. This method guarantees that none of those good things are not denatured during the extraction process, and allows precise and accurate extraction of specific constituents of the plant material – for instance CBD (an important medically active phytocannabinoid) can be extracted from hemp plants to produce Hemp Oil with negligible amounts of THC, the pesky stuff that gets you high.
Endoca uses this scientifically up-to-date method to produce their range of organic CBD-rich hemp oil, paste, tinctures and crystals, all of which are 3rd party tested to ensure concentration of CBD, purity and lack of contaminating substances.
