CBD protects neuronsPre-clinical proof suggests CBD has neuroprotective abilities, which could be of benefit in treating a wide spectrum of brain disorders. These include Alzheimer’s, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). Researchers will gather data from Brazil’s lone patient throughout the CBD oil for Alzheimer’s treatment. It is a small start, considering a study done in 2015 suggested that between 15-16% of the Brazilian population suffer some form of dementia. So far, there is no really successful treatment for these people.

CBD reduces toxic build-up in the brainResearch is still in its early stages, but Dr. David Schubert from the Salk Institute postulates that cannabinoids can reduce inflammation in the brain. Researchers measured beta-amyloid build-up. This protein is toxic and is strongly associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
CBD was shown to reduce the buildup of beta-amyloid and is the first non-toxic treatment showing potential to treat this devastating disease. Although the Brazilian CBD oil for Alzheimer’s trial will not be conclusive since only one patient is participating, we can hope that a positive result will spur more in-depth research.
Could CBD oil for Alzheimer’s be the key?Authorities estimate that Alzheimer’s disease costs the US government healthcare system more than $255 billion per annum. The human cost is immeasurable as families watch their loved ones lose their mental abilities and personalities to the disease.
The idea that real natural CBD oil for Alzheimer’s could be the next target for clinical trials seeking a cure for neurological conditions is exciting. Could it prove to be an effective treatment? Time will tell!
Treatment options are urgently needed. In 2015, the World Health Organization estimated that there are 46.8 million people living with Alzheimer’s. By 2030, this number will exceed 74.7 million. Without a cure, these patients and their families face a grim future.
An aging populationAs the world’s population gets older, the need for treatments for neurological diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s becomes more pressing. Getting past the blood-brain barrier, a highly selective membrane system preventing substances from passing to the brain, has been the challenge. Researchers say that cannabinoids such as CBD pass through easily because of cannabinoid receptors in the brain that form part of the endocannabinoid system. As foreign substances, conventional medicines don’t pass through this defense system as easily.
Apart from wishing Brazil’s lone CBD oil volunteer success in combatting Alzheimer’s, a positive result could have far-reaching benefits for thousands of others. It could lead to further research that will show us how to treat this terrible disease. It’s indisputable that any promising treatment for Alzheimer’s should get research priority.
Perhaps one day, we or our parents will be using scientifically proven CBD oil for Alzheimer’s, either as a treatment or as a preventative measure. That’s something to look forward to!
