Amy Black says CBD for autoimmune disease has changed her life.
The 23-year-old was diagnosed with the very rare disease, sarcoidosis at the age of 19. The Evening Telegraph spoke to Amy about the CBD oil she is taking for her condition.
Amy was a fit and healthy teenager. Suddenly, she could hardly get out of bed and experienced severe migraines, leaving her blind in her left eye. She had tremors and a swollen rash on her skin. Amy suffered from unbearable nerve pain and had difficulty breathing. At first, she thought it was an allergic reaction to a tattoo.
“You will never feel good again”
When doctors diagnosed her with incurable sarcoidosis and told Amy she would never be the same again, she felt completely stunned and devastated. She has been in and out of hospital for the last four years and takes three different medications with unpleasant side effects.

Own research led to CBD
Through her own research into alternative medicines, Amy discovered CBD and found she could order it via the Internet. It is not illegal since it is not psychoactive and contains no THC, the restricted compound in some cannabis strains.
She has been on CBD oil since December and feels she has her life back. Her family can’t believe the transformation brought about by CBD for autoimmune disease. She buys it in capsules and says the oil they contain makes her feel “normal” again.
Her doctors were against her using CBD oil, but she is discussing it with them and would like to see the National Health Service make CBD available for free. If they did, more people could benefit from it. Apparently, the NHS unit is currently testing a CBD vaporizer.
The life-changing effects of CBD for autoimmune disease
From being a near-invalid as the result of her autoimmune disease, Amy is now feeling well and healthy. She says that CBD is the magic ingredient that changed her life, and she would like to see more people having access to it. When conventional medicines failed, CBD for autoimmune disease worked.
The possibilities are endless
Scientists around the world are racing to discover new uses for CBD. People are already using it for pain, anxiety, irritable bowel disorder and a host of other ailments. Like Amy, the only proof they have that it works is the way they feel. Researchers, in turn, want to know if it works, how it works, why it works and how people should use it. The scientific confirmation will take a long time in coming. Meanwhile, patients like Amy are taking treatment into their own hands – often with surprising results.
Others say that the role of the endocannabinoid system is to keep us healthy, and these people believe that using CBD as a preventative measure will have the best results. Of course, it’s even harder to prove prevention than it is to prove cure!
Meanwhile, cases such as Amy’s seem to point towards a new research direction: CBD for autoimmune disease. Although sarcoidosis is extremely rare, there are many other diseases that are caused by an overactive immune system.
