A study on rodents that was submitted to the European Journal of Pain in 2016 noted a major reduction in inflammation and signs of pain in the rats with arthritis after they received a topical treatment of CBD.
A 2013 study also revealed that when consumed, CBD interacts with cannabinoid receptors, CB1, and CB2 which help to maintain homeostasis in our body.
CB2 receptors were actually found in much higher amounts in the joints of those suffering from arthritis when CBD was introduced into the body.
Given the potential of CBD in the treatments of both chronic pain and anxiety, it is certainly possible that using CBD for insomnia could provide relief for millions and free them from the shackles of their sleeping related health concerns.
Further Studies Reveal Potential Benefits of CBD for Insomnia
A number of recently published studies have indicated that CBD has powerful anxiolytic effects and shows serious potential as a treatment for a multitude of sleep-related disorders.
Research conducted in 2017 also added further weight to the idea that CBD can potentially help with sleep-related health conditions.
Titled, “Cannabis, Cannabinoids, and Sleep: A Review of the Literature” the paper analyzed the research on CBD for insomnia and revealed it may well have therapeutic potential as a treatment for the condition.
The research also suggests that CBD may hold real promise for REM sleep behavior disorder, as well as excessive daytime sleepiness.
While there has been a lack of studies in the past due to cannabis’ continued classification as a schedule 1 drug, this analysis does at least add genuine credence to the belief that CBD could provide genuine relief for the millions of Americans who continue to suffer from sleep disorders and sleep-related health conditions.
Greater and more detailed research on the benefits of CBD for insomnia and a wide variety of health conditions are necessary, but it is now clear that there is some real potential in CBD’s use for a variety of sleeping disorders, including that of insomnia.
